FAMILY CAMP

Can I bring mom and dad to camp with me? Absolutely! We have many families who come to camp every summer. We offer three different "family camp" options during summer sessions 1 thru 14. Rules are different for Fall, Winter and Spring Camps; call for information. Family camp is ideal for parents who want to participate on the hill, but have other plans for the rest of the day. Call if you have any questions.

Option 1: Full camp: Parents and their kids pay the full camp tuition price which covers everything: coaching, lift tickets, video analysis, dorm housing, meals, transportation, and afternoon activities. Housing upgrades are available for parents. (see below for information about staying at the Mt Hood Inn and the Grand Lodges). If parents do housing with us they will be roomed with other adults. Kids are roomed with kids their same age and sex.

Option 2: Day Camp: Day Camp is for kids ages 9 and older that want everything camp offers (meals and activities) but want to stay with their parents. Day campers get a $100 discount off the camp tuition price. (Lodging options at either the Mt Hood Inn, Collins Lake Resort, Grand Lodges or The Lodge at Government Camp - see below for details).

Option 3: Coaching Only Camp: Coaching Only is for anyone age 7-84. Included are coaching, lift tickets, and video analysis. Our Coaching Only program does NOT include meals, lodging, afternoon activities or transportation. $1,000 for kids and $1,050 for adults. **Parents must ski with the 7 and 8 year olds at least on the first day to make sure all is okay.

Young kids (ages 7 to 8) must do the coaching only program and stay with their parents. This program does not include meals, transportation or activities. It does include the Wednesday picnic and the parents are welcome to join us if they let the kitchen staff know they will be coming. Families may do a combination of these options. (example: older kids do option 1 or 2, and younger children and parents do option 3). **Parents must ski with the 7 and 8 year olds at least on the first day to make sure all is okay. We don't have facilities or supervision for kids younger than 9 in our afternoon activities. Young kids must be able to ski easy groomed black runs, load and unload the chair lift by themselves, and ski with poles. The Palmer Snowfield is set up for high speed skiing with many camps having training lanes and it is only a safe place for kids ages 7 to 8 who do understand basic safety concepts. Children ages 7 to 8 are too young to participate in the camp afternoon activities; their parents must pick them up after they get off the mountain each day.

For those of you that might want to try camping, there are nearby camping areas including: Trillium Lake campground, Still Creek Campground, Frog Lake Campground, Clear Lake Campground, and Timothy Lake Campground. There's also the Mt. Hood Village RV Resort in Oregon.

Transportation: Many families from out of the area, choose to rent a car at the Portland airport and drive themselves around during their week of camp. If you are on the Day Camp plan and staying at the Mt Hood Inn, then our camp counselors will provide transportation for you between the Mt Hood Inn and our camp lodge for meals, afternoon activities as well as trips to and from the ski area each day. Most adults prefer to rent or use their own car. Having your own car while at camp gives you a little more freedom to come and go on your own schedule.
