SURF CAMP
at Mt Hood Summer Ski Camps

**Surf camp is available only to campers that stay at camp for 2 or more sessions.

Surf camp takes place during the weekends (between sessions) on the beautiful Oregon coast and the beaches surrounding the town of Cannon Beach.

Surf camp cost varies between $60-$120, depending on how many campers sign-up, and how many nights are spent camping (0-2 nights).  This price includes all necessary gear (we rent wet suits and surf boards for each camper), camping fees, food, and surf lessons.  We recommend that if you are interested in surf camp, that you bring your own sleeping bag with you to camp.  Surf camp are for campers ages 13 and older. **Younger campers can go if they are good swimmers and surf conditions permit.

FAQ:
1.  Why does it vary from 0 to 2 nights?
Answer:   We may decide to make it into a long day trip, traveling to the coast somewhat early on a Saturday, and coming back to Mt Hood later that evening.  Or we may travel to the coast on Saturday morning, camp out, and come back Sunday afternoon/early evening.  Or we may travel down to the coast on Friday after skiing, camp two nights, and come back to the mountain on Sunday.  The reasons for the different lengths of stay are based on weather conditions, interest levels of the campers, as well as surf conditions.  Usually we leave Saturday morning and come back Sunday afternoon.

2.  What's the overnight camping arrangements?
Answer:  We take the kids to an established campground near Seaside, Oregon, where we set up tents.  Kids need to bring their own sleeping bag.  There is a shower facility at the campground and we'll do breakfast and/or dinner there as well.

3.  Is this camp open to beginner surfers?
Answer:  Absolutely.  In fact, for most of the kids that come to surf camp, it's their first attempt on a surfboard.  But they should be age 13 or older. **campers younger than 13 can go if they are strong swimmers and surf conditions permit.

4.  Can I come to surf camp and just hang out on the beach and NOT surf?
Answer:  Absolutely.  If you just want to work on the tan and build sand castles, that is ok.  If you choose to not surf, you will get a discount on the price of surf camp.

5.  Is surf camp offered every weekend during summer?
Answer:  Surf camp is offered every weekend as long as there is enough interest. Some weekends, not enough people want to go so it may not happen every weekend.
