ARRIVING AT CAMP BY AIRPLANE

If arriving by plane on Sunday (the normal arrival day), your flight must land at Portland International Airport (PDX) between the rough times of 10am and 2pm, west coast time. We have our camp counselors at the Airport from 10:00AM to 2:00PM to meet incoming campers.  We then load them and their ski or snowboard equipment & luggage in our camp vans for the 75-minute drive to our lodge.

If your flight lands before the time of 10am, your camper must be willing to wait in baggage claim for us to arrive at 10am. Unaccompanied Minors CANNOT land before 10am. Please scroll down this page for additional information for Unaccompanied Minors.

If your flight lands after 2pm, we are usually more flexible with pickup and can stay to transport your child back to camp. However, if your flight lands after 4pm, we do charge an additional $60 as at that point we are typically sending one person to pick up just your camper and pulling that staff away from other duties.

If you plan to arrive a day early (Saturday), we do charge an additional fee of $275 for a Day Early Arrival. Your flight should land between the same times of 10am and 2pm. All rules and fees for Sunday plane arrival apply on Saturday as well. This means unaccompanied minors CANNOT land before 10am, and any flights landing after 4pm will be charged an additional fee of $60. *More information for Day-Early arrivals can be found below.

UNACCOMPANIED MINORS

Some airlines require children under a certain age to be titled an “unaccompanied minor”. In the case that your child is flying unaccompanied, we will assign a counselor to meet them at the gate and escort them to baggage claim. We will also check them in and escort them to the gate during departure. Check out our frequently asked questions tab for more information on young children flying alone.

Each airline has their own age requirements and fees that they set for these children. At the bottom of this page are common age requirements set by U.S. airlines for children flying alone. If your goal is to have your child fly/not fly unaccompanied, we recommend looking at the chart and looking up the fees associated with the airline you plan to fly.

If your child is not identified as an unaccompanied minor by the airline but you would still like us to accompany them through the airport or on a early morning shuttle to the airport, PLEASE NOTIFY US as we operate within the classifications of the airlines and will not know otherwise. You will also be charged as though they were an unaccompanied minor.

We charge our own fee of $60 each way to pick up/drop off unaccompanied minors as we must send an individual person to attend to each unaccompanied minor.

We require unaccompanied minors to follow all the same rules as campers who are not flying unaccompanied, except for a few exceptions. Please check the arrival and departure pages for flying to camp to see all the regular rules and fees. Unaccompanied minors CANNOT land before 10am. This is because counselors must check in ahead of time and retrieve your child from their gate once they land and we do not have the staff capabilities to send anyone to the airport early. Unaccompanied minors also CANNOT be on a flight departing before the time of 10am as we do not have staff to go on the early morning shuttles with them to check them in.

We typically will not know who is assigned to your unaccompanied minor until a few days before the flight. Once we know, we will contact you with their information to provide to the airline for pickup.

DAY EARLY ARRIVALS

For those who want to get an extra day of skiing in, we offer a day early arrival option. This means you would arrive on Saturday and get an extra day of skiing on Sunday. This extra day of skiing would not include training (gates for racers). It is simply an extra day of free skiing to help campers get accustomed to the mountain and get their legs under them for the upcoming week. We charge a fee of $275 for day early arrivals.

BREAKDOWN OF EXTRA TRAVEL CHARGES

Day Early Arrival $275
Day Late Departure $200
After 4pm Arrival/Departure by Plane $60
Unaccompanied Minor Fee (Each Way) $60
Early Morning Shuttle $100

More than one fee may apply if the circumstances cover both charges. For example, if your child is flying unaccompanied on the way to camp and their flight lands at 6pm on Sunday, you will be charged $120 for that arrival (unaccompanied minor fee and after 4pm arrival by plane fee). If your child is departing a day late on Sunday and their flight leaves at 8am, you will be charged a total of $300 (day late departure and shuttle to the airport).
