FALL/THANKSGIVING CAMPS

TRAINING IN THE FALL
Each year Timberline closes the Palmer chairlift at the end of Labor Day weekend, then after a few weeks of lift maintenance, they reopen for fall training (when there is enough snow coverage) Once they reopen, Timberline operates the lifts every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (weather permitting).  We offer some sessions in the fall that include 3-days on snow, plus one full week-long camp right around the Thanksgiving holiday. Fall is an excellent time to train with the same excellent training as in the summer but with shorter lift lines.

During low snow years, fall training may be limited, so be sure to call the camp office to get the latest update on snow conditions before signing up. Snowboarders and Freeskiers may or may not have access to terrain park this time of year, so again, please call the camp office to discuss the possibilities before signing up. We do not offer mogul camps in the Fall.

For group or team camps, email mike@mthood.com or call us at 503-337-2230. In the past, we have hosted team camps in the fall season from Squaw Valley, Stevens Pass, and Mt. Bachelor.

FALL CAMPS OFFER CERTAIN ADVANTAGES Fall training has several advantages. First of all, this is the only place in North American where you can train on snow during this time of the year. Several race programs bring their teams here for early season training. Lift lines don't exist this time of year, so skiers can take advantage of the quantity of training runs in a shorter period of time. Getting in 25-30 runs in a day is not uncommon this time of year. Snow conditions are usually firm in the morning, and then soften up a bit as the day warms up. It's a great opportunity to get a jump start on the season.  For group or team camps, email mike@mthood.com call us at 503-337-2230.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES FOR FALL CAMPS Because of cooler and sometimes wet weather in the fall, we offer indoor related afternoon activities. One option each Fall session is a trip to the Hood River sports club (about 1 hour drive) where there is an indoor rockclimbing wall, and basketball hoops. A trip to the movies/mall, might also be offered. We also have our rec room in the lodge basement where we have a pool table, ping pong, VHS/DVD movies, foosball, as well as a ski/snowboard tuning room.
