KEES NEDERHAND
1988 - 2002

For those of you that didn't know about Kees Nederhand (pronounced "case"), he was a 14 year old MHSSC camper from New York.  He was killed when he skied into the rocks on lower Palmer during a warm-up run on August 14, 2002.   The memorial we see each morning on our way up the chairlift serves as a reminder to us all that life is precious.

Brandy Powell and I put together a memorial video the day after the accident. (click the link)

i have to admit, i've never been to mhssc-however...i joined this group because my brother was Kees Nederhand...he was at mhssc on august 14 2002 when he suffered a tragic accident on the trails and passed away.

the reason for me joining, and leaving this wall post was because it is hard for me to find out/see much of his last couple days as i have yet to head out to mt hood myself (being from NY)--but was wondering if anyone who was at camp with kees would be willing to share any experiences/photos/memorie
s they had of kees and/or his memorial with me at all.

any little bit would be much appreciated. thanks guys-hopefully ill be able to get out there soon and see what exactly it is that you guys love so much!

A new cross for Kees was put up in summer 2013.
